Baseball player Cosby High was “fighter like no other”

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Virginia – The Cosby High School baseball team is mourning the loss of player Steele Kirwan, who died after a long battle with cancer.

The senior Cosby jersey was placed on the baseball field in his honor Saturday afternoon.

The baseball team remembered the teen as a “great teammate, boy, young man and friend.”

The team said Kirwan was “a fighter like no one else” who made them stronger and taught them to never take anything for granted.

“Our thoughts and prayers are going to end up in the family,” the team coach wrote. “Cosby’s baseball will be forever Steele Strong!”

Kirwan’s father said his son was his hero and his best friend.

The family asks you to keep them in your prayers. However, they requested that no one gather at the institute as a precaution due to the pandemic.
