There was a time when Sega made a major effort to preserve its inherited titles, allowing new fans to experience games even if they are older. It is advancing rapidly to the present day and the company only seems interested in re-launching Sonic 1 & 2 on every platform imaginable (but not the widescreen port).
We’ve gone through several generations of consoles without proper preservation of this franchise and some titles like Neo Geo Pocket Color’s Sonic Pocket Adventure never received any release of any kind. This is what we want to look at today: Sonic titles that are at least 15 years old and locked into their original hardware.
Nor are we highlighting any old game, but they must be legitimately fantastic, a key part of the franchise’s history, or they can be improved with modern hardware. (Sorry Sonic’s Schoolhouse, maybe next time)
Have you played any of the games featured in this video and are there any others you would like to re-release?
