This Sunday afternoon FMLN party sources confirmed the death of Roberto Cañas, one of the signatories of the Peace Accords.
Cañas was also part of the Negotiating Commission that signed the Peace Accords in the country.
During his professional life he stood out as an economist, analyst and teacher, he lost his life due to an illness he suffered for years.

Gerson Martinez, a member of the FMLN, also lamented Cañas’ departure.

Reeds was born in San Salvador, the 21 of November of 1950 and began its political activity to the 19 years in the University of El Salvador after entering the Faculty of Economic Sciences in 1968.
He served as Secretary General of the University of El Salvador, between 1993-1994.
For the 2015 municipal and legislative elections Roberto Cañas participated as a candidate for mayor of San Salvador, for the Democratic Change (CD) party.
His remains will be buried in Les Flors Funeral Home between 21 Carrer Ponent and 27 Avinguda Nord, Sant Salvador.
