As long as you can remember, the Guardian Jenny Stevens she has had a difficult relationship with food and a feeling of being comfortable with her body. As she went through her adolescence until the age of twenty, these feelings intensified until she found herself skipping more and more meals while controlled by anorexia.
She explains Rachel Humphreys that having recognized the problem herself, it was far from easy to get the treatment she needed. In front of an obstructive GP, he was unable to get the referral he needed for specialized care. Eventually, she was referred to the eating disorder unit at Maudsley Hospital in south London, where she was able to begin the gradual path to recovery.
