China warns of danger of ‘new Cold War’

Paris, France

Chinese President Xi Jinping warned on Monday of the danger of a “new Cold War” and called for multilateralism in the inauguration of the World Economic Forum, Which this year left the snow of Davos in Switzerland and is held in video conference format.

Without naming the United States, Xi stood up for multilateralism and globalization, as he had done at the same forum four years ago, just before Donald Trump came to power.

His newly-owned successor, Democrat Joe Biden, is not taking part in this annual meeting of the world’s political and economic elite, which is usually held at the Swiss ski resort of Davos.

“Create clans or start a new Cold War, Rejecting, threatening or intimidating others will only lead the world to division, ”he warned Xi Jinping.

And that’s when the Biden administration is expected to turn its policy around in the face of China’s political and technological rise.

Donald Trump had opted for open confrontation and verbal attacks, with no tangible results, at least in terms of the huge U.S. trade deficit with China.

Later, ECB President Christine Lagarde will discuss with French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire, her German counterpart Peter Altmaier and Goldman Sachs CEO how to “restore economic growth”.
