Appointments for the Houston COVID-19 Methodist vaccine were closed after meeting the appointments

HOUSTON – Houston Methodist Hospital, Texas ’largest vaccine provider at the moment, no longer takes appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine after filling the time slots shortly after it was launched on Monday.

Within hours, the appointments were no longer available.

The website included a special note stating the following:

“Thank you for visiting our vaccine center website. We have had an overwhelming response and, due to the limited supply of vaccines, unfortunately we have no more appointments available at this time.

“We continue to work with municipal and state officials to identify and vaccinate our most vulnerable members of the community. We will advise the community when we can re-publish the form for more registrants.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

The hospital said it prioritizes those aged 75 and over and those aged 65 and over with other health issues, as well as health workers.

Roberta Schwartz, the executive vice president who manages the hospital’s vaccine distribution, said she will administer some 14,000 first doses this week and between 12-13,000 second doses.

“We are working our way through public enrollments, we are working our way through our patient databases, as well as working our way through List 1A as we continue to vaccinate health care workers,” he said. dir Schwartz.

Patient databases include anyone who has a connection to Houston Methodist. Anyone who has visited the emergency room or any employed or private physician, or who has undergone some testing at a Houston Methodist center.

This database includes more than half a million people who meet the requirements for the vaccine in the state section “1B,” Schwartz said, including “more than 120,000 people over the age of 75 or older.”

“Right now, for every vaccine we have, there are about 1,000 who claim this vaccine,” he added. “I would ask everyone and I would pray to everyone, please be patient. This is a huge process. We have hundreds of people dedicated to this. ”
