In its Black History Month announcement this morning, Apple has confirmed that iOS 14.4 and watchOS 7.3 will be released later today.
watchOS 7.3 extends the ECG application of the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer versions to Japan, Mayotte, Thailand, and the Philippines, while iOS 14.4 introduces a notification to iPhone 12 models with non-original cameras. Both software updates also add support for a new “Unity” clock face based on the pan-African flag and contain several bug fixes.

iOS 14.4 includes the following enhancements for your PiPhone:
– The camera can recognize smaller QR codes
– Option to classify the Bluetooth device type in Settings for correct headset identification for audio notifications
– Notifications when your PiPhone’s camera can’t be verified as Apple’s new original camera on “iPhone 12”, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro MaxThis release also fixes the following issues:
– Image artifacts may appear in HDR photos taken with the iPhone 12 Pro
– The Fitness widget may not show up-to-date activity data
– Typing may be delayed and word suggestions may not appear on the keyboard
– The keyboard may not appear in the correct language in Messages
– CarPlay News app audio stories may not resume after they have been paused for spoken or Siri instructions
– Enabling accessibility switching control can prevent phone calls from being answered from the lock screen
WatchOS 7.3 Release Candidate Notes:
watchOS 7.3 includes new features, improvements, and bug fixes, including:
– Unity watch face: inspired by the colors of the pan-African flag, the shapes change throughout the day as it moves, creating a unique face for you
– Walking time for Apple Fitness + subscribers: an audio experience in the Workout app, where guests share inspiring stories as you walk
– Application of ECG to Apple Watch Series 4 or later in Japan, Mayotte, Philippines and Thailand
– Irregular heart rate notifications in Japan, Mayotte, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand
– Fix an issue where the Control Center and Notification Center may not respond when Zoom is turned on
The iPad 14.4 should also be released today. Apple typically releases software updates around 10 a.m. Pacific time and 1 p.m. Eastern time.
