Approximately 2.8 million people in Puerto Rico are expected to receive the $ 600 economic incentive payment. This constitutes individuals, couples, or dependents.
On the latter, payments for qualified dependents will be $ 600 to a single guardian, while for shared custody cases each guardian will receive $ 300 detail.
Under the federal law that gives way to this second round of $ 600 payments, known as the COVID-related Tax Relief Act of 2020 (CRTRA), these additional $ 600 payments will be received by individuals with a valid Social Security, who have been resident in Puerto Rico during the tax year and who have not been claimed as dependents on another person’s Income Contribution Record Sheet.
Another population that will benefit is the imprisoned people, who will be able to receive the benefit of $ 600.
In addition, no withholding will be made for outstanding debts with the Administration for the maintenance of minors (ASSUMES).
In the case of married couples, at least one of them will be required to have a Social Security number that validates with IRS protocols.
