Police are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at a cordoned-off Welsh industrial site, with people being asked to stay away.

A bomb disposal unit has been called in to deal with an incident at the Wrexham industrial estate, where the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine is manufactured and stored, the BBC reported. North Wales is also working on the site.

The station said a cordon had been set up near the pharmaceutical company’s plant, with the public’s instruction to stay away from the site.

Earlier, the plant reported that it had received a suspicious package, which led to its partial evacuation.

The Wrexham plant, which is capable of producing up to 300 million doses of vaccine a year, signed an agreement in August, in the midst of a pandemic, to help prepare the inoculation for distribution in the whole country.

In particular, it is responsible for putting the vaccine in vials and packing it to send to the UK regulator for inspection, FT wrote earlier this month.

“We are immensely proud to have been selected to collaborate with the UK government on this project,” said Ravi Limaye, managing director when the state contract was announced.

“We have a sophisticated sterile manufacturing facility and a highly skilled workforce,” he continued to praise his assets.

In addition to the ambitious goals of delivering British-Swedish inoculation to the EU, the UK has recently launched the largest mass vaccination program on its borders, aimed at protecting tens of millions of people from COVID-19 in a matter of months. .

The government intends to offer vaccines to 15 million people (over the age of 70, health workers and those required to protect them) by mid-February, and millions more over the age of 50 and other priority groups in the spring. These categories are thought to account for up to 90-99% of people at risk of dying from the highly contagious infection.
