On Wednesday morning, Governor JB Pritzker visited a mass vaccination site at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake.

“This site has been built not only to meet the current limited supply that is needed, but also to grow as more and more doses arrive from the federal government,” Governor Pritzker said.

With Illinois now in Phase 1B, people over the age of 65 and many essential workers are already eligible to receive the vaccine. This includes approximately 3.2 million additional people.

The Illinois National Guard will help with vaccines at Cook County health centers in half a dozen suburbs. There are more planned deployments across the state.

Officials said that as of Monday, those guard-supported sites will meet 1B, as well as the pharmacies of hundreds of Walgreens, CVS and Jewel centers.

Walgreens provides vaccinations at 92 sites across the state and appointments can be made on its website, while Jewel-Osco will begin vaccinating eligible residents on Tuesday, with appointments available on its website.

Governor JB Pritzker said there are plans to launch places where it can be introduced once the vaccine supply increases.

On Monday, Governor Pritzker and Cook County Board Chairman Toni Preckwinkle toured the Tinley Park Convention Center, which is preparing to become a mass vaccination site.

Governor Pritzker announced the creation of a new portal, coronavirus.illinois.gov, to provide the latest information on vaccines.

“Today, as we launch the new phase of our vaccine management plan for essential front-line workers and people 65 and older, I’m proud to announce our statewide vaccination site locator , which can be searched by zip code and city, at coronavirus.illinois.gov, “Governor JB Pritzker said. “This site will serve as the hub for all vaccine-related information, which will direct residents to the appointment booking homepages of our 97 local health departments and our pharmacy partners, which will add up to hundreds of locations. This also includes information on our first Illinois National Guard Mass Vaccination Site, which will open tomorrow at the Tinley Park Convention Center, and will be updated as more sites managed by the state and hundreds of additional local options.Because the federal supply is currently limited and all states in the nation are facing a shortage, urge all Illinois residents to periodically check available appointments and , meanwhile, mask, keep your distance, wash your hands and remember that we will stay healthy and safe if we watch each other. “
