
While we already know what to expect from amiibo functionality in Nintendo Switch games right now, it’s always good to know exactly what will happen when they are scanned in a given game.
In the event that Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, is a game divided into two different adventures.
To use an amiibo in Super Mario 3D World, you have to show a small amiibo symbol and then scan your figure. Here is the full explanation, courtesy of Destructoid:
“Using amiibo a Mario 3D World the slice is very straightforward: hold down on the d-pad while playing to display the amiibo symbol when you’re on a level, and then scan. 99% of the figures create random actions or a 1UP mushroom.“
As mentioned on the game’s official site, Cat Mario summons an invincible white cat costume and Cat Peach can create random actions, but apparently has no “special” functionality.
In the new complementary adventure Bowser’s Fury, the “two main figures” in this mode are Bowser and Bowser Jr, and “everything else will call for random drivesAgain, hold left on the D-Pad to scan in numbers. Here is the full summary of the source:
“Using Bowser at the NFC amiibo point will immediately wake Fury Bowser from his sleep. While it is usually a danger to be managed and avoided, making a call to Bowser has its advantages, as certain walls / obstacles can only be destroyed by Fury. Bowser’s abilities. So if you need him to appear immediately to enter a specific area, you won’t have to wait for him. We tested several Bowser’s amiibo and figures like Wedding Bowser will also have the same functionality. “
“Bowser Jr. is also special, as it allows you to trigger a kind of explosion. You can’t send spam because it has a recharge time – there’s not much else!”
It is worth mentioning that the amiibo of Bowser and Bowser Jr. are not classified as unique / special in Super Mario 3D World.
