Leaders report 1,341 new cases of COVID-19, 9 new deaths

SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 in its daily session Wednesday night.

Nirenberg reported 164,270 COVID-19 cases in total and 2,007 deaths in total in Bexar County, with an increase of 1,341 new cases as of Wednesday. Nine people have been reported dead today.

The moving average of cases over 7 days is 1,567.

City officials also reported that 1,341 patients are hospitalized, 394 in the intensive care unit and 255 in ventilators. 11% staffed beds and 49% fans are available.

Wolff said the Bexar County Hospital District has administered 5,000 vaccines on the Robert B. Green campus in the city center. This week, people are getting their second dose on this site.

Nirenberg says some people have been sidelined at the Alamodome site because they were not yet eligible. Remind the public that currently only those in phase 1A and phase 1B are eligible to receive the vaccine.
