Joe Judge hired Tennessee’s fired coach Jeremy Pruitt to staff the Giants

It looks like Joe Judge is making an addition to his Giants coaching staff, with the expected hiring of Jeremy Pruitt certainly an interesting fact.

Pruitt, 46, was fired for reasons as Tennessee coach on Jan. 18, after a school-led investigation revealed widespread violations of recruitment within the football program. The university will not pay Pruitt its $ 12.6 million purchase.

Pruitt’s role with the Giants has yet to be revealed. The position of outside defense coach is open, with the departure of Bret Bielema to Illinois. Pruitt has been a defensive coach and defensive coordinator in the ranks of the university. He was 16-19 in three years in Tennessee, including 3-7 last season.

Although Pruitt has no technical experience in the NFL, he knows the judge, as the two worked together in Alabama since 2009-11 with Nick Saban’s staff.

There is another Giants connection for Pruitt. His home defense coach Kevin Sherrer was Pruitt’s defensive coordinator in Tennessee before joining the judge’s staff last season.
