Cook “excited” by the progress of the Apple Silicon transition

Apple CEO Tim Cook says the company has “much more to do,” but is excited about how the first Apple Silicon M1 Macs have been received.

Speaking during the legally required quarterly earnings call, Cook answered questions from analysts about Macs M1, the first of Apple’s home-designed silicon-powered computers. Stressing repeatedly that he sees it as the early days of Intel’s transition to Apple Silicon, he said Apple is excited about the progress so far.

“We’re halfway through the transition and we have a lot more to do,” he said. “We are in the early days of a two-year transition, but we are excited about what we see so far.”

“If you look at the switch [from PC to Mac]”, he continued,” if we look at the new for Mac and the new for iPad, these figures worldwide account for about half of purchases from people who are new. Therefore, the facility base is still expanding with new customers. ”

“This is true on both iPad and Mac [but] if you look at the Mac, M1 I think provides us with a new growth trajectory that we haven’t had in the past, “he continued.” Certainly, if Q1 is a good proxy server, there is a lot of excitement about M1-based Macs. ”

Apple launched its first Macs with M1 technology late last year with the MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Mac mini. Customer feedback has been largely positive, with many promoting the speed and efficiency of new computers compared to previous Mac and Windows boards.

It is rumored that the company will launch a couple of high-end MacBook Pro models redesigned with M1 chips in the third quarter, while the iMac and Mac Pro could benefit from Apple Silicon later this year.
