CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky does not recommend wearing N95 masks for the general public

There has been a lot of back and forth throughout the pandemic, with doctors recommending the use of N95 masks, but CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky recommends to the general public no to carry them.

“They’re very hard to breathe when you wear them properly,” Walensky said. “They are very difficult to tolerate when you wear them for long periods of time.”

N95 masks are really designed for first aid.

You’ve probably seen people wearing them. The five-layer masks come with a strip of foam nose that covers much of the face.

Dr. Walensky, as well as Dr. Anthony Fauci, continue to say that people should wear a mask, but they claim that the general public does not need to wear N95s because they are uncomfortable and difficult to breathe.

They fear that people will not want to wear masks at all after having a bad experience with an N95.

“I’ve spent a reasonable amount of time wearing an N95 mask. They’re hard to tolerate all day every day,” Walensky said. “And in fact, when you really think about how well people will wear them, I’m worried that if, if we suggest or demand that people wear an N95, they won’t wear it all the time.”

“The most important thing is that everyone wears a mask,” Fauci said.

With the new COVID-19 variant, many people wonder if they need to wear two masks.

The CDC says you don’t have to, but again, they recommend that you bring at least one.
