Thorium Entertainment has announced that it will bring its roguelike action-adventure UnderMine to Nintendo Switch next month.
The game has already been downloaded 600,000 times on Steam and Xbox Game Pass and puts you in the role of a “cheeky peasant” who won’t stop at nothing to find his fortune in a dark and dangerous mine.
It is an interesting premise and made even more attractive by the fact that the creators of UnderMine clearly have a small debt with the classic 2D Zelda series, at least in terms of presentation.
As you can see in the trailer, some of the characters wear Link-style costumes, perform a familiar attitude when picking up important objects, blow up walls with bombs, and even feature strangely similar animation when they fall through a hole. Everything is done with language firmly on the cheek, of course, and the overall presentation looks fantastic. The captivating loot game and roguelike elements set it apart from the famous Nintendo series, even if they share some technical and visual similarities.
Derek Johnson, founder of Thorium Entertainment, said this on the news:
“Since we released our first version of Early Access, the question our fans were asking was,‘ When will Switch arrive? “Launching a game on a Nintendo platform is a dream come true, and we look forward to new fans joining the horde this February.”
Currently, UnderMine has a rating of 9/10 on Steam, which certainly bodes well. Our friends at Eurogamer practically went with the Steam version and described it as “a distilled version of Zelda on SNES … if Zelda were confined to a dungeon.” It will launch on Thursday, February 11 on Switch and will cost $ 19.99.
Here is the PR:
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – January 28, 2021 – UnderMine, the action-adventure roguelike full of secrets from developer Thorium Entertainment, enriches it with a Nintendo Switch release on Thursday, February 11, after more than 600,000 gamers enjoyed the game. game on Steam and via Xbox Game Pass.
With the pickaxe in his hand and courage in his heart, control a foolish peasant who sets out to enter a mysterious mine in search of innumerable riches. Fight for life against the dangers that await in the dark depths. Venture down the lower stretches until this full moon fulfills its fate, and then send the next unfortunate soul to retrieve your equipment and plunge further into the caverns.
Use bombs to blow up walls and rocks to dig up secret passages, collect precious gold before the slimy pilots claim it, and rescue potential allies in the depths of the mine. Fight the inhabitants of the Calabrians to the end of each level, where the bosses who fill the room are between the fearful miner and his target.
Be creative with each new race, desperately eliminating relics that grant abilities, potions with magical effects, treasures, and other objects, in the hopes that the next race will be more fluid than the previous one. Make the difficult decision to hoard gold for the subsequent download or spend the much earned cash on useful items or useful upgrades.
Master the mines and then look for new challenges in the real roguelike Othermine, starting again with no upgrades, for almost endless playback. After five major content updates during Early Access, Thorium will continue to expand mine operations with post-release updates that will hit all platforms in the coming months.
