A New York real estate agent has surprised social media users after showing a small apartment that costs $ 1,650 a month to rent.
The West Village studio not only doesn’t have a stove or oven, a small fridge and a small closet, but it doesn’t even have its own bathroom.
Instead, for $ 1,650 a month, residents have to share a toilet and shower (which are also in separate rooms) with the entire complex.
And tenants should be sure not to lose their keys as they are needed to get into the bathroom and shower.
The astronomical price of the Manhattan apartment, located on 5th Ave and 11th St, near New York University, is not even as high as it could have been pre-pandemic, and prices continue to fall as wealthy New Yorkers continue to exodus.

A New York real estate agent has surprised social media users with the worst apartment he has ever seen

For $ 1,650 a month, the tenant lives in a room with no proper kitchen or bathroom

Social media users claimed it could not be the actual price of the apartment

“How is it legal?” asked another below the TikTok video
The video was shared by TikTok’s new account New York City Realtor (@newyorkcityrealtor), directed by Cameron Knowlton and Tatum Kelly, who have already amassed 2.4 million likes in six videos in less than a week.
After the first videos showed larger residences of more than $ 10,000 a month, Knowlton showed the worst place he has ever come across, noting that as a real estate agent, he doesn’t set the rent.
“A couple of years ago I posted the worst apartment in the Facebook group,” he told DailyMail.com.
“I was just starting out in real estate and struggling to get it. It was my first post as a real estate agent (much of our job) and the Internet broke me. I have death threats.
‘People called me all day to insult me and what not. They said he was the worst agent in history, “Knowlton added.
He decided to try it again this year with his new TikTok account, eager to show what the pits of New York real estate can really mean and do it on his own terms.
Knowlton says he is not fond of the building, but had found it to be an open list, which anyone with a real estate license can show to potential tenants if they so wished.
“People ask me, what’s the worst apartment you’ve ever seen, I’ll show you,” Knowlton says in TikTok footage before moving into the one-bedroom house.
And before you ask, yes, this is a real apartment. This is what will get you $ 1,650 in New York City’s most desirable neighborhood.
“Zero oven, a mini fridge, no stove and just a singular closet.”
In total, he manages to show off the whole apartment in a few seconds.
In a second video, he reveals the situation of the bathroom which, according to him, is “as bad as you could imagine.”
“Imagine you’re in the dining area and you have to go, follow me,” he says as he stands in the apartment.
Add to the title that, in addition to your dining room, it is the “living room, kitchen, bedroom and closet.”

The apartment has a communal bathroom and shower in the hallway

The toilet and shower are kept in separate rooms and can only be accessed with a key

The real estate agent joked that even shower soaps had to be shared
“Here’s the first part of the bathroom and you’ll need your key because it’s for security,” the real estate agent says as he stands out in the lobby.
“Now, here is the toilet, shared by the whole complex. It can be seen that it is actually quite clean and by the way there is no sink.
“And if you want to shower, you’ll have to be on the other side of the hallway,” he adds.
Now remember your key and here you have the shower. Not bad at all, it’s not too shabby, and here are some shared soaps if you will.
Knowlton adds that this shower “is also shared by the entire complex” in the subtitles.
Others looking at TikTok were dismayed by how little a tenant was having, stating in the following comments that “this must be a joke.”

TikTok users were horrified by how small the apartment was

“It’s twice my pay per home in a 1900 square foot home in Texas,” one user said.
“HOW IS THIS LEGAL,” Jilly asked, while Blyssed said, “College dorms are better than that.”
“This is not an apartment.” It’s a compartment, “said a user named Reanie.
“And people thought we were joking when we said New York City apartments were like a closet,” said another named Kels.

Many joked about the bath and the spread of the coronavirus

Jack Nelson joked with “I thought Harry Potter was wrong” while Yasmin Aubry said, “People in prison live better.”
Most of the comments were about the bathroom situation, with spectators joking that “Starbucks is 3 blocks away.”
“The athlete’s foot is typing,” one user named Brendan wrote.
Many users also joked about the pandemic and Signemanderson commented, “I only know that COVID is 30 years old, and that the flirtatious ad thrives in this building.”
‘The whole complex ?! Without WATER !!! GERMS ON HANDLES OMGGGG, ”said user Sumaya.
“And now we know exactly why the rum spread so badly in New York last spring,” added Emily Miller Jocham.
Despite the criticism, some have rented the apartment, though not for long.
It was last rented in October 2019, which means its last occupant could stay just over a year.
Knowlton also said the reaction has been “100 percent” more positive than the last time he highlighted the “worst New York apartment” and that he now uses his viral fame to raise money for homeless people in the his latest TikTok video.
