A 4-year-old boy found a dinosaur footprint 220 million years ago on a beach in Wales.
Lily Wilder found the well-preserved footprint earlier this month in Bendricks Bay, and scientists say it could help them understand how the dinosaurs walked. Cindy Howells, curator of paleontology at the National Museum of Wales, told the BBC that the print, which is almost four inches long, is “the best specimen ever found on this beach”.
Wilder found the impression while walking along the beach with his father, Richard Wilder, according to the report.
“Lily saw it as they walked and said, ‘Look, Dad,’ said her mother Sally Wilder. ‘When Richard came home and showed me the picture, I thought it looked amazing.’
The scientists said they did not know what kind of dinosaur left the footprint that was preserved in the mud.
