The Connecticut health system cancels vaccination appointments due to shortages

The University of Connecticut health care system is canceling COVID-19 vaccination appointments due to shortages.

On its COVID-19 vaccine program website, UConn Health said its weekly vaccine allocation is shrinking due to product shortages at the state and federal levels.

All appointments for the first vaccine doses scheduled for Monday and February 8 are canceled and no new appointments for the first doses are accepted. The health care system said decisions on canceling additional appointments beyond Feb. 8 will be made next week.

UConn Health said it plans to keep its commitments to those scheduled to receive second doses.

Approximately 300,000 people in Connecticut have received the first doses of coronavirus vaccine as of Friday, in accordance with Office (D) of Governor Ned Lamont. About 64,000 have received the second.

The state is currently vaccinated health personnel, long-term care center residents, medical assistants, and people 75 years of age or older.

Connecticut has reported A total of 250,023 positive COVID-19 cases on Saturday and 7,046 deaths.

Lamont he said Thursday which was considering easing some of the state’s coronavirus restrictions, including ending digital caps at places of worship and lifting the curfew at 10pm in restaurants.
