French President Emmanuel Macron has decided not to close France for the third time, as the country continues to record 24,000 new infections daily.
From Sunday, France will close its borders to all non-essential travelers outside the European Union. Those traveling to the EU must show a negative coronavirus test before re-entering.
But Macron stopped ordering the closure of all businesses.
“I have confidence in ourselves. These hours we are living in are crucial. We are doing everything we can to slow down the epidemic together. ” he tweeted on Saturday.
France reported 24,393 additional positive tests for COVID-19 on Friday.
A recent survey showed growing frustration with the deployment of vaccines there, and the widespread belief that another blockade was inevitable. As of Saturday, only 1.45 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered. By comparison, Israel had administered 3.5 million a week earlier.
