Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro revealed Saturday night that he won 105-104 to the Sacramento Kings who learned a teammate has tested positive for COVID-19
Herro said he received this news halfway through and did not know if he will have to put up quarantine due to a possible exposure. His revelation came the same night, star striker Jimmy Butler returned after losing ten games due to NBA safety and health protocols established for safe play during the coronavirus pandemic. Butler scored a season-high 30 points after losing 12 of Miami’s 18 games due to virus-related problems, as the Heat finished with a five-game losing streak.
The Heat also didn’t play Kendrick Nunn on Saturday because he was expecting the outcome of the COVID-19 test when the match began. Nunn was eliminated in the second quarter and could have played, but Heat coach Erik Spoelstra chose not to use him.
“We were waiting for the results of their tests,” Spoelstra said, the South Florida Sun Sentinel was quoted as saying. “It wasn’t available in the first quarter at the time, so I went in a different direction … It’s just one of those unfortunate things. I guess if that kind of thing happens, it will happen to us.”
Herro had 15 points and three assists for the Heat, who were also without Goran Dragic and used their 14th lineup in 19 games this season.
