“We want players to experience what it feels like in the rest of the world”
Here we go again!
Remake of Final Fantasy VII “Part 2.” The name, by itself, probably surprises the anger in the hearts of many fans. But the original Remake got so much goodwill (much more than I expected) that I think a lot of people are willing to see what Square Enix has to offer before they get into arms.
When will it arrive? Well we don’t really know. What do we know? Wandering platitudes! Such is the path of the majority Final Fantasy game release times; with the exception of XVI (so far), which fortunately has hardened Yoshida at the head of the battle and onwards. Fortunately, Remake of Final Fantasy VII star translator Audrey has some news for us coming out of CEDEC + Kyushu 2020 online.
While much of the digital event was about the story of the first part (retreading some things we already knew), the second part was finally raised. Co-director Naoki Hamaguchi intervened to state that in terms of “goals” for the second half, the team “wants players to experience what the rest of the world is like.” “The rest of the world” is the highest goal!
But of course, with Redo playing around a bit with the timeline, producer Yoshinori Kitase believes there is plenty of room to subvert expectations. Kitase explains “Even though those who played the original game know the story, they’re probably wondering what’s going to happen now? We want to create something that might surprise them and make them enjoy meeting their expectations. Part 1.”
Hamaguchi says this is “everything [they] can reveal about the second part right now, “and the interviewer jokes that they” hope “we can experience the big field map after Midgar. Hamaguchi laughs and says” they’ll take note. “however, there’s a” new wave of staff “appearing for the second part, which, in mind, is still being done in part, remotely.
Everything sounds pretty exciting and inaccurate. As Audrey points out, it is entirely possible that Part 2 will be much shorter than expected. I can easily see it, as Square Enix has the ability to add all sorts of background stories with Zack and Cloud, as well as new zones and time-consuming mechanisms.
Although Part 2 might not cover a large strip of the old one FFVII narrative, “has the power to open all sorts of new doors. As long as it’s fun to play and Square Enix doesn’t fail before it’s over, I’ll gladly continue to make the journey.
