A team, made up of a doctor and a nursing assistant, part of the organization Médecins Sans Frontières, were deprived of their liberty and beaten when they went to receive medical care in the Les Canyes ward in the municipality of Ilopango.

The attackers, alleged gangs, lowered the two members of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), threatened them with firearms and physically assaulted them and caused them minor and moderate injuries, so both specialists from the health, have had to receive treatment at a Social Security hospital. They were taken by another ambulance that was nearby, in the area.

They rule out that one of the assailants reported gunshot wounds, but confirm that the ambulance in which they were transported was moved by the alleged gangs, leaving the two paramedics stranded stranded, after they managed to escape their assailants. the ambulance was located, hours later, at the entrance of the Les Canyes Department

The MSF team emphasizes that it has been working since 2018 in the area where the attack took place and that they do not report previous incidents involving threats or violence towards them or their patients.

As a result of the attack, MSF has decided to temporarily suspend its work in the ambulance service to ensure the safety of its team members; however, they clarify that the measure is temporary and responds to the need to investigate everything that happened and take appropriate measures.
