Heupel arrives in Tennessee after becoming head coach at UCF, compiling a 28-8 record between 2018-20.
He previously served as the sole offensive coordinator in Missouri (2016-17) and the State of Utah (2015).
As a player, Heupel was Oklahoma’s starting quarterback during the 2000 BC Sooners National Championship season.
