A South Florida man suffers an impressive tragedy after his parents and brother die within days of each other

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – The tragedy surrounds a Palm Beach County family after a mother, father and son died after contracting COVID-19.

Eric Sherman has gone through the unthinkable after losing the closest relatives.

On January 1, he lived with his parents and brother.

And now, a month later, he is the only one still alive.

When Sherman became ill just before the new year, he had no idea it was COVID-19, nor did he know it would change his life forever.

“I basically thought I had a flu fever or something,” he said. “I became so weak and the fever started and you’re so weak, but you can’t even go to the bathroom.”

Sherman lived with his mother and father, Leslie and Douglas, and his older brother, Marc, all with pre-existing medical problems.

When the four got sick, they all went to the hospital. Only Sherman’s mother and brother entered.

As he and his father recovered at home, Leslie and Marc’s conditions slowly waned.

“They spent the first three weeks in the ICU, you can’t talk to them, they get the same status calls and the only time they really get a change in phone calls is when the chaplain calls or the doctor calls and has to tell you it stretches, ”Sherman said.

First, Sherman’s brother died on Tuesday, Jan. 26, and then his mother died just about 24 hours later.

He and his father began establishing funeral arrangements for Sun. On Jan. 31, but that early morning, just hours before burial, Sherman found his father dead in his bathroom after a heart attack so Sherman said he had a broken heart.

“All I know so far is that they were three of the purest-hearted people you could have found on this planet,” he said. “It’s tragic and I could only hope that today there would be more births with pure-hearted children to replace them.”

Sherman said his parents were beloved teachers and that his brother was an expert in baseball and wrestling knowledge who would turn 50 a week starting Wednesday.
