Devin Booker knew he had thrown a three-point starting jumper as soon as the ball left his right hand outstretched Monday night.
Booker, who finished the night with 24 points in his first game back after an absence of four games due to injury, would prove correct in his assessment.
This jump gave the Suns a 109-108 lead over their hometown Dallas Mavericks with 1.5 seconds left for regulation.
Booker’s shot would be the winning basket of the game, as the Suns would win their second win in three days over the Mavericks by that same score.
The winning jumper of the shooter’s game ended with a 9-19 shooting performance that helped the Suns recover several comebacks during the final quarter of the contest.
Booker finished Monday’s contest with four triples in eight attempts, and joined fellow goalie Chris Paul in a quartet of shots from behind the arc in the win.
Booker’s heroic finals helped the Suns improve their record of the year to 11-8, and ended a three-game series for both teams this season.
It all came to a dramatic conclusion in an unbalanced shot that ended with the outstretched arms of Mavericks guard Josh Richardson.
It was a shot that touched nothing but on the net, which gave Suns fans a reason to celebrate Monday night.
