Los Angeles. Disney confirmed on Monday that its next plans include the release of a series derived from “Black Panther”, Marvel’s black superhero, which will be titled “Wakanda” in reference to the paradise where the original story takes place. .
“Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote and directed the world-acclaimed‘ Black Panther ’hit and is currently working on the sequel, will develop a new Wakanda Kingdom-based TV series for Disney +,” the company confirmed in a statement sent to Efe.
The fiction, of which details of the plot are unknown, will become the second project on “Black Panther” after the tragic death of its protagonist Chadwick Boseman due to colon cancer.
The deal with Coogler also includes the creation of other formats outside the superhero franchise.
MARVEL WILL NOT REPLACE CHADWICK BOSEMAN IN “BLACK PANTHER II”
In both the new series and the second film, the writers will not look for a replacement for Boseman, as announced a few months ago by Marvel Studios director Kevin Feige.
“Boseman’s portrayal of‘ Black Panther ’is iconic and transcends any iteration of the character into Marvel’s past, which is why we won’t repeat the character,” he said during an investor presentation by business group The Walt Disney Company.
Feige added that to “honor his legacy” they will continue to “explore the world of Wakanda and all the characters” who appeared in the first film.
In this way, the doubts about “Black Panther II” were clarified, scheduled for the summer of 2022 with a plot that will continue the tape of 2018, which raised $ 1,347,000 and became an emblem of pride for the black community.
Boseman died at the age of 43 from colon cancer which was secretly treated during the shooting of several films in recent years, which added even more commotion among his Hollywood peers.
