The positive COVID-19 test rate in Utah remained stable at just over 16%, according to the Utah Department of Health. This is still more than three times the 5% rate that state health officials have said indicating that the coronavirus is under control.
And the death toll rose by 17, although six of those occurred before Jan. 13 and are now only reported after confirmation of test results.
Vaccines reported in total / last day vaccinations • 13,672 / 325,457.
Cases reported last day • 1,201.
Deaths reported last day • 17.
Salt Lake County reported nine deaths: two men ages 25 to 44; a man and a woman aged 45 to 64; two men aged 45 to 64; and two men and a woman over 85 years of age.
There were three deaths in Washington County: a woman aged 45 to 64; and two women over the age of 85.
Two Utah County residents, both women over the age of 85, died.
And there was one death each in Cache County (a man over 85); Davis County (a woman aged 65 to 84); and Weber County (a 65- to 84-year-old woman).
Hospitalizations reported last day • 396. This has gone down six from Monday. Of those currently hospitalized, 130 are in intensive care units, one more than Monday.
Tests reported last day • 7,499.
Percentage of positive tests • 16.02%. It is roughly the same as the seven-day average of 16.6%.
Total so far • 348,409 cases; 1,685 dead; 13,576 hospitalizations; 2,035,662 tests.
