Five children of six shot dead in Oklahoma

Six people were shot dead early Tuesday in an Oklahoma home, including five young children, and one suspect in the killings was arrested, police said. Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to a call from several people shot at a home in Muskogee, a town of just under 40,000 people about 45 miles southeast of Tulsa, police said in a statement. a statement.

Officers at the scene found one man and four children dead, and a fifth child died at a Tulsa hospital, police said.

Muskogee police officer Lynn Hamlin described the murdered youths as “young children,” but said police are not yet exact ages. He said authorities have no reason yet, but do not believe there are other suspects involved.

“We don’t think it’s random, but we still don’t have details of why or what happened,” Hamlin said.

A woman was also taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, she said.

Authorities have not released the name of the arrested person or any additional information about the people who died. Police were expected to release more information later Tuesday.
