The Screen Actors Guild held a disciplinary meeting to consider revoking former President Trump’s membership, but before SAG could make any announcements, Mr. Trump announced that he would break with them first. Trump sent a letter of resignation to the organization’s president, Gabrielle Carteris, writing “I no longer want to be associated with your union.”
“I am writing to you today about the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!” wrote the former commander-in-chief. “While I’m not familiar with your work, I’m very proud of my work in films like‘ Home Alone 2 ’,‘ Zoolander ’and‘ Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps ’; and TV shows like ‘The Fresh Prince’ by Bel-Air, ” Saturday Night Live ” and, of course, one of the most successful shows in the history of television, ‘The Apprentice’, just to name a few some! ”
The SAG-AFTRA National Board voted overwhelmingly in late January to find the likely cause that Mr. Trump violated the organization ‘s constitution, citing Trump’ s role in the Assault on January 6 at the Capitol and his threats against the journalist.
After claiming that he has “helped the cable news business a lot,” firing on MSNBC and CNN, and claiming that SAG is trying to distract from its sad history as a union, the former real estate mogul said he has ended SAG . “You didn’t do anything for me,” Trump wrote.
In response, SAG issued a two-word statement: “Thank you.”
In addition to the actors, SAG-AFTRA also represents broadcast journalists across the country and the organization claimed that reports of intimidation and physical assault “increased” throughout Trump’s presidency.
According to his financial disclosures, Mr. Trump has received a pension from SAG.
