Netflix has announced that the last 12 episodes of Pokémon Journeys: The Series will be out in March. The 12 episodes will include a return to the Alola region, the anime adaptation Sword and Shield Pokémon joint story with a confrontation with the legendary Pokemon Mewtwo. Pokémon Journeys: The Series follows protagonist Ash Ketchum and his new travel companion Goh as the duo travels the Pokemon world researching Pokémon, competing in the prestigious World Coronation Series competition and trying to capture all known Pokémon species. This is the fourth batch of new episodes released on Netflix, bringing the total number of episodes to 48.
Still, today’s announcement has had some confusion and anguish, as Netflix and The Pokemon Company noted that these were the “final episodes” of Pokémon Journeys. Netflix is unlikely to cancel its deal with The Pokemon Company, as the platform became the main home of new episodes of Pokémon just over a year ago. However, we’ll probably see a “brand new” Pokemon anime series, similar to how the final season of Pokémon the series: Sun and Moon It was called Pokémon series: Sun and Moon – Ultra Legends is listed separately from the other episodes of Pokémon the series: Sun and Moon despite being a direct continuation of this series. Interestingly, while The Pokemon Company’s official press release about the new episodes noted that they were the “final” episodes of Pokémon Journeys, this was not mentioned in any post on Pokémon social media.
There are more regions to explore, Pokémon to catch and battles to be won with Ash and Goh.

We’ll notice that earlier this year, The Pokemon Company added a URL for “legends.pokemon.com,” which many believed was related to the anime series. This could mean we’ll see the announcement of an anime series “Pokemon Legends,” which makes sense since Goh recently got the Legendary Pokemon Suicune in episodes that aired in Japan.
Viouslybviament, the end of Pokémon Journeys it’s a big deal for Pokémon fans, even if it’s only a temporary measure. We’ll have to see if there is any interruption in the broadcast of new episodes of Netflix or if this only leads to another brand of the TV series in the United States.
