Two more real estate agents have been arrested who took a private plane to Washington DC for a Jan. 6 rally that ended the riot in the Capitol building.
Jason Lee Hyland, 37, of Frisco, Texas, and Katherine ‘Katie’ Schwab, 32, of Colleyville, appeared in several social media posts on the plane that they shared with their real estate partner Jenna Ryan, which drew attention not only to brag about the private flight, but also to post a video of herself in the middle of the gap saying, “You know who to hire for your real estate agent!”
She and her traveling companions face multiple federal charges.
Hyland and Schwab were charged Thursday with entering or remaining in a restricted building with no lawful authority and disorderly conduct in the Capitol Grounds.
In a previous interview, Ryan suggested that Hyland and Schwab had become partners during the trip. Hyland’s attorney said in court that his client was living with Schwab at the time of his recent court hearing, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Hyland organized what became known as the “Patriot Flight” from Denton Enterprise Airport, about 45 miles north of Dallas.
“This will be historic, regardless of the outcome,” he said in a text message to the group, which included a fourth person who has not been identified. He claimed to know Ryan and Schwab only through Facebook.
They posted photos of him on the flight and landing at Manassas Regional Airport in Virginia.
Hyland and Schwab appeared in a live Facebook video posted by Ryan as they walked toward the Capitol from the rally near the White House. He told the FBI group that he returned to his hotel after arriving at the Capitol and not seeing any scenery, and only a food truck.
When they saw on television that the Capitol had been breached, the group retrieved an Uber and joined the crowds heading into the building, authorities reported. Schwab can be seen in multiple surveillance photos holding the cell phone in the crowd.
Hyland claimed he asked a Capitol police officer if he could enter and told him “everyone else is.” But he told the FBI he stayed for a short time, leaving after hearing a loud burst-like noise. Hyland’s real estate license is listed on state records as “inactive,” according to the Dallas Morning News.
Schwab told investigators the crowd pushed her into the building.
In a conversation that FBI agents discovered on Facebook, Schwab said he entered the Capitol and that National Guard troops were left behind when the crowd entered.
“They didn’t fight us at all … because there was no need to do that,” Schwab wrote, according to the criminal complaint. Referring to a woman who was shot while trying to crawl through a broken window near the room of the house, Schwab continued, “After the girl was killed and killed was when we raised hell. “.
He told the FBI he believed Ryan’s videos made members of the group look “bad.”
Apparently, his employer agreed. The 21st Century office where he worked posted Facebook on January 7 that he knew about his posts. “This behavior does not behave with the policies or values of our company. This agent is no longer associated with Mike Bowman of the 21st Century. “
