The dust of the Sahara desert paints the European sky burnt orange

The sky turned orange in some parts of southern Europe, as some areas were covered in sand and dust caused by strong winds from the Sahara Desert to Africa.

Meteorologists say the phenomenon occurs every year, but this time the Sahara winds were stronger than normal, the BBC reported.

Desert grain infiltration even turned local snow into sand, the BBC said.

The photos show skiers from a resort in Anzere, Switzerland, enjoying the orange snow and brightly colored skies on Saturday.

In Lyon, France, people were also fascinated by the views over the colors of the Sahara sand that took over the city.

A photo from NASA’s Earth observation system data and information system shows the flow of Saharan dust crossing the Mediterranean Sea into Europe.
