While Tom Brady was defending the greatest athlete of all time on Sunday night, about 9,600 miles away, Serena Williams said, “It’s not that fast, man.”
With all due respect to Brady and his Super Bowl-winning teammates, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers weren’t the only GOAT in action. Serena won the night with her performance on the track at the Australian Open, dressed in declaration and world domination.
Before playing a single point in the first round by 6-1 and 6-1 over Laura Siegemund, the 39-year-old had already appeared during that others sporting event in a memorable Super Bowl ad.
Shortly afterwards, the 23-time senior champion made everyone talk, once again, when she came out on the track in a colorful, asymmetrical and leggy jumpsuit. He later said the look was inspired by the star of the late Florence Griffith Joyner.
“I was inspired by Flo-Jo, who was a wonderful track athlete, an amazing athlete when I was big,” he said later. “Seeing her fashion, always changing, her outfits were always amazing. This year we thought about what we can do to elevate Serena Williams to the runway. The Nike team thought of this Flo-Jo-inspired design. And it was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s so brilliant.’ “

While the cat costume currently appears to be unavailable for purchase, Nike introduced a series of t-shirts that celebrated Serena’s legendary hits and iconic status. Her husband, Alexis Ohanian, was even seen with one in her box during the match.
And you’re thinking “QUEEN!” for yourself right now as you relive your amazing night, you seem to agree.
