Dr. Laura Berman’s 16-year-old son, Samuel, has tragically died from a drug overdose.
The “shattered” relationship therapist revealed the breaking news via Instagram, saying Samuel overdosed on Xanax with fentanyl.
“My beautiful boy is gone. 16 years. Shelters at home. A drug dealer connected with him on Snapchat and gave him fentanyl [sic] she tied Xanax and overdosed on her room, “she wrote next to a photo of her and her son.” My heart is totally shattered and I don’t know how to keep breathing. “
The host of the “Language of Love” podcast shared his tragedy “so that not one more child dies.” The therapist said his son was a heterosexual student: “he was preparing for college.”
“It simply came to our notice then. He received the drug at home, “she continued. “Look especially at your children and WATCH SNAPCHAT. That’s how they get it. “
In his Instagram story, Berman again shared a post asking parents to download Snapchat teens.
“Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of Samuel Berman Chapman and we are heartbroken by his passing,” a Snap spokesman told Page Six on Monday.
“We are committed to working together with law enforcement in this case and in all cases where Snapchat is used for illegal purposes. We have zero tolerance for using Snapchat to buy or sell illicit drugs. “,” the statement continued, noting that the use of Snapchat for “illegal purposes” is against the company’s community guidelines.
“We are constantly improving our technological capabilities to detect drug-related activities and to be able to intervene proactively. … We have no other priority than to keep Snapchat in a secure environment and we will continue to invest in protecting our community. “
After the news, Berman fans and Samuel’s classmates supported him.
“I’m a Milken student who was in two of Sam’s classes and I can personally say he was such a great king [sic] soul, ”said a friend. “I am very sorry for the loss of you and your family. Sam didn’t deserve to die so soon. I send my love and my prayers. ❤️ Rest in peace [sic]”.
“Dr. Laura, my heart is broken into a million pieces for you … I have a 15-year-old son … I’m sorry, I’m very sorry,” said a follower.
