Shohei Ohtani pacts for two years and $ 8.5 million with Angels

ANAHEIM – Los Angeles Angels have today agreed a two-year, $ 8.5 million contract with two-way player Shohei Ohtani. The arbitration avoids an arbitration hearing. Ohtani was the only player eligible for unsigned refereeing on the Angels ’40-man list.

Ohtani, 26, has appeared in 254 games as a batter in three seasons with the Angels and has compiled 47 doubles, seven triples, 47 homers, 147 RBIs and 29 stolen bases. In 2018, he made 10 openers as a pitcher, with a 4-2 record with an effectiveness of 3.31 (51.2 INN – 19 runs allowed) and 66 strikeouts on his way to winning the American League Ninth of the Year Award.

The Oshu, Japan native originally signed with the Angels on December 9, 2017 after five seasons with the Nippon-Ham Fighters in the Japanese Pacific League.
