Fauci says Bret Baier masks can start coming out when “the virus level is so low, it’s not a threat at all.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci he said Monday he wasn’t sure when he would support the final requirements for Americans to wear facials, but said it was “conceivable” that he could support some “public health measures” in the late fall.

“Will there be a time when we won’t have masks?” Fox News’ Bret Baier Fauci asked in an evening interview. “When is this moment? If you had to guess: go to a sports game, go to a theater, go to a concert without a mask? ”

The head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases responded: “This will really depend on how we lower the level of the virus in the community. If we can get – and I used it as an estimate, it’s not definitive – if we can vaccinate between 70 and 85 percent of the population and get to what we would expect would be a degree of immunity to the herd that is really an umbrella or a protective veil … where the level of the virus is so low that it poses no threat, then you can start thinking in terms of not having a uniform dressed in masks.

“But I’m sure we’re not close yet,” he added. “When do I think this would happen? It’s very hard to predict, Bret, but if everything falls into place and we control it, it’s conceivable that you might withdraw some public health measures a bit as we get into late fall this year. But there is no guarantee.

Fauci, who infamously said at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March that “there was no reason to walk around with a mask on,” began asking Americans to put on coatings in the months that followed. In January, he advised Americans to start wearing two masks and told NBC News in an interview, “If you have a physical coat with one coat, put on another, it just makes sense that it would probably be more effective. That’s why people are seen doing double masking or doing a version of an N95. ”

Still, some jurisdictions have begun to loosen mask regulations, including Iowa, where the governor. Kim Reynolds (R) this month removed rules that required wearing masks, in addition to ending limits on the number of people who could gather in bars and restaurants.
