BUFFALO, Minneapolis (AP) – Several people were shot at a Minnesota health clinic on Tuesday and then someone was arrested, police said.
The shooting occurred at an Allina clinic in Buffalo, a city of about 15,000 people, 64 miles northwest of Minneapolis, Kelly Prestidge, manager of a Buffalo Police Department office, told The Associated Press. .
Prestidge said one person was arrested but did not know if he was the shooter. He also said he had no further information about the attack, including the number of people shot or whether anyone died.
Police Chief Pat Budke told KSTP television that the shooting took place inside the Allina Clinic Crossroads campus. He said the situation was contained shortly before noon and that there was no other threat to public safety.
North Memorial Health spokeswoman Abigail Greenheck said several victims were taken to her Robbinsdale hospital. He did not say how many or under what conditions they were. Allina Health spokeswoman Timothy Burke did not say whether any casualties were taken to her Buffalo hospital.
FBI spokesman Kevin Smith said the agency’s bomb technicians were heading to the scene, but was unable to confirm media reports of a possible bomb or explosion at the clinic.
Members of the alcohol, tobacco and firearms control group and special agents from the state’s criminal detention office also went to the scene, agency spokesmen said.
Images of TV helicopter news almost two hours after the attack showed no activity at the clinic, but at least three broken glass panes could be seen outside.
The Midwest Office of Medical Examiners, which handles cases in Wright County, made no comment on whether it had sent anyone to the site.
A spokesman for the state Department of Public Health said he did not know immediately if the clinic had administered vaccines against COVID-19. An Allina spokeswoman referred all questions to Buffalo police and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
