AZDHS updates its COVID-19 dashboard providing additional vaccine data

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Health Services on Tuesday released a new update to its COVID-19 dashboard, which provides more demographics related to the state’s vaccine administration efforts.

Health officials said the data show the total number of doses of vaccines administered, the total number of vaccines administered each day, the number of single rice paddies receiving the first dose and the number of cornflowers with the complete series. .

Data are also provided showing the age, race, ethnicity, and gender of those receiving the vaccine.

According to data from Tuesday afternoon, almost 50% of vaccines have been administered to the white population. Only eight percent have been administered to the Hispanic population and nearly two percent to the black population. A section called “Other Races / Strangers” that had nearly 40% of people managed was also part of the bulletin board for Tuesday’s announcement.

Along with the board update, AZDHS director Dr. Cara Christ published a blog explaining the phased approach to vaccine distribution and how the demographics described are not yet expected to be ‘adjust to the general demographics of the population.

“Because of the phased approach to vaccine distribution, the demographics presented here are not expected to fit the general demographics of the population,” Dr. Cara Christ said. “For example, the distribution of age or race / ethnicity among the population of health workers, the category of protection services and education and daycare professionals is not the same as the distribution among the general population of health workers. ‘Arizona’.

Dr. Christ added that the health department expects demographics to align more with that of the general population as Arizona begins vaccinating Phase 1C and Phases 2 and 3.
