TAMPA, Florida. – The city of Tampa has unveiled its plans for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl parade.
The Ships, Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa have teamed up to host a social distance boat parade along the Hillsborough River.
The city announced that on Wednesday, Feb. 10, there will be a boat parade at 1 p.m., along the Tampa River Promenade.
The parade celebrates the Bucks ’31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.
Fans are invited to “Raise the Flags” and join the celebration that spans the Tampa Riverwalk and other viewing areas that offer ample space for social distancing.
“As a reminder, outdoor masks are needed in all event areas and entertainment districts, including downtown and along Tampa’s waterfront promenade,” the press release said.
Sailors may be in the water during the parade, but may not participate. Sailors must stay within 50 feet of the parade’s official boats
The Lightning held a boat parade after winning the Stanley Cup in September and their Twitter account recommended the Bucs do the same.
MORE SUPER BOWL COVERAGE
Mayor Jane Castor expressed her frustration with some videos seen on the weekend of the Super Bowl of large crowds with some not wearing masks and urged those in attendance at the parade to wear them.
Dr. Jay Wolfson said last year’s Lightning parade sparked an increase in local coronavirus cases.
Thousands of fans gathered along the boardwalk to watch the boat parade.
“Wearing masks will make a difference,” Wolfson said. “We suggest that people wear disinfectant lotion because they will touch the railings, touch other things, and want to make sure they don’t cough or sneeze.”
The following parking options are recommended for parade enthusiasts:
- Poe Garage and Tampa Convention Center Garage: $ 10 flat rate event
- Fort Brooke Garage and Pam Iorio Garage: $ 2 per hour
- Palm Garage in Ybor: $ 1 per hour (visitors can take the free TECO tram to the city center)
- Surface plots: $ 1 per hour

The city of Clearwater also plans to celebrate the Ships by creating a unique sand sculpture on Clearwater Beach.
“After the great success of the promotional sand sculpture featuring Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, we will once again partner with the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival to build a piece of tribute to the winning team,” he said. Kris Koch, senior event and athletics manager for the city of Clearwater.
The master sand sculptors will create the piece on Tuesday, February 9th. The sculpture is expected to be completed on Wednesday, February 10th.
