Tourists disappear on a trip to the famous hiking spot of the Dyatlov Pass

A group of tourists has disappeared in the roller coasters, near the well-known place where nine students died in mysterious circumstances more than six decades ago.

The eight Moscow hikers never returned on Wednesday after heading to the Dyatlov Pass in the Urals region, Newsweek reported, citing Russian media.

“They were supposed to leave at 8:00 this morning. But they have not returned yet and there is no contact with them,” a local resident told local media E1.

Tourists had traveled to the area to pay tribute to the victims who died there in February 1959, the resident reported to the dam.

Russia had blamed the mysterious deaths of the nine students for an avalanche and poor visibility.

But his terrible injuries, which included fractured skulls and broken ribs, sparked conspiracy theories ranging from an attack on an animal to an attack by aliens.

In 2019, Russia reopened the investigation to try to end speculation.

Andrey Kuryakov, deputy director of the regional prosecutor’s office, said the latest investigation confirmed that the group was hit by an avalanche and froze to death.
