Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Wednesday that five of the city Vaccine sites COVID-19 – included Dodger Stadium – will close Friday and Saturday for lack of supplies, CBS Los Angeles reports.
“We’re vaccinating people faster than the new roads coming here in Los Angeles,” he said at a news conference Wednesday night. “And I’m very concerned right now. As mayor, I’m concerned that our supply of vaccines is uneven, unpredictable and, all too often, inequitable.”
He said that by Thursday, the city will have exhausted its supply Modern vaccines for the first doses, causing the closure of non-mobile vaccination sites.
“We won’t have these vaccines because the supply isn’t there,” Garcetti said. “As soon as we receive more offers and I’d love to call tonight or tomorrow from some state or national source to say we’ve found another one, but it’s likely that hopefully we’ll be back on Tuesday or Wednesday start the business. ”
The mayor also announced that the five vaccination sites run by the city of Los Angeles have administered 98% of the doses the city has received and make an average of 13,051 daily doses with a total of 293,252 doses administered so far. .
In the meantime, Johnson & Johnson has applied for FDA emergency approval for his one-dose COVID vaccine, making it the third COVID-19 vaccine to be made available to the public by U.S. federal regulators to review data from the company’s clinical trials on Feb. 26.
As of Feb. 10, 33.8 million Americans have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine, while 10.5 million have received both doses, according to CDC data.
