The state of Illinois added more than 300 new vaccination sites to COVID-19 on the last day, health officials announced Thursday, with hundreds more Walgreens stores across the state and some CVS locations administering vaccines .
An additional 339 Walgreens locations in Illinois were opened as vaccination sites as of Wednesday, state officials said, as well as four CVS locations.
This brings the total number of vaccination sites in the state to 860.
State officials announced Wednesday that more than 100 vaccination centers opened last week, adding 22 local health departments, medical centers and hospitals, as well as two new mass vaccination sites and 110 retail pharmacy stores.

Retail pharmacies
Vaccines are now available at several CVS, Hy-Vee, Jewel-Osco, Kroger, Mariano’s, Meijer, Walgreens and Walmart pharmacies in Illinois. In total, each chain administers doses in the following number of places:
• CVS: 4 locations
• Hy-Vee: 16 locations
• Jewel-Osco: 143 locations
• Kroger: 24 locations
• Mariano’s: 31 locations
• Meijer: 8 locations
• Walgreens: 520 locations
• Walmart: 8 locations
More than 3.2 million residents of the state are eligible to be vaccinated in Phase 1B, which includes people 65 and older, as well as “essential front-line workers.”
The state will expand the list of people eligible for COVID-19 vaccines in phase 1B of its deployment, Governor JB Pritzker announced Wednesday, which will open vaccines to people with “a high-risk medical condition.” or comorbidity for vaccination. The list includes people with cancer, diabetes, obesity, pregnant women and those with various conditions.
Current vaccination sites in the state are only available by appointment, but the state plans to launch sites to access in the coming weeks, according to officials.
In addition to the above locations, the DuPage County Health Department moved their vaccination to the clinic at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton to expand capacity. The new space opened Wednesday for vaccinations.
Still, despite the added locations, Illinois officials continue to call for patience, saying vaccine supply is limited.
“We are limited by the amount of vaccine available and allocated by the federal government,” the governor’s office said in a statement. “Right now, vaccines are only available by appointment and we encourage people to consult open consultations frequently. Until supply is increased, there will be a great demand and we ask people to be patient.”
