So to better explain why the universe has been played out the same way it has since the Big Bang, there has to be a lot of stuff that we either can’t see or that we just haven’t identified yet.
But while the idea of dark matter may answer some questions, it also raises other issues. If there is so much dark matter in the universe, we should be able to see it at least, but we can’t. In seeking an explanation, researchers have begun to form truly incredible theories, including the possibility that a fifth dimension exists, and that our inability to interact with that dimension is the reason why we have not yet seen dark matter. Now, a team of scientists has published an article that hypothesizes the existence of a particle that could serve as a gateway to this invisible dimension.

Unfortunately, the newspaper has given rise to quite wild headlines on the Internet. Some outlets have even suggested that scientists “found” a portal to the fifth dimension when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. The play itself, however, remains extremely interesting.
In the newspaper, published in The European Physical Journal C, the researchers wanted to solve some problems related to the abundance of dark matter and particles known as fermions. Fermions are very small, smaller than an atom, and protons and electrons are part of this group. In an attempt to answer the questions they were studying, scientists developed a new theory of physics that not only presents the four dimensions we know (three dimensions of space and one dimension of time), but a fifth dimension that certain a type of particle could pass through it.
“If this heavy particle existed, it would necessarily connect the visible matter we know and have studied in detail with the components of dark matter, assuming that dark matter is made up of fundamental fermions, which live in the additional dimension,” they said. the scientists Vici. “This is not a crazy idea, as we know that ordinary matter is made up of fermions and that if this additional dimension exists, they will most likely propagate in it.”
While it may not be “outlandish” for scientists, they are also making some assumptions here, such as the very existence of the fifth dimension. They also rely on the existing theory of dark matter (which represents 85% of our universe and exerts a force on objects of our dimension, but we simply cannot see it) and the existence of this new theoretical particle which, again, no one has ever seen it.
Simply put, there are a lot of questions that need to be answered before we can even begin to determine the existence of a fifth dimension, and if any of these theoretical blocks are not real, the whole building falls . Again, the play is interesting, but no, we haven’t found a fifth dimension and no, there’s no “portal” we really know.
