Federal authorities arrested two Kentucky men linked to the far-right extremist group Boogaloo Bois, one of whom was charged in connection with a riot that erupted in Louisville, Ky., On January 6.
According to one release of the Justice Department (DOJ), John Subleski, 32, and Adam Turner, 35, were arrested Thursday by the FBI’s Louisville division.
Subleski is accused of “using an interstate trade center” to incite a riot and “committing an act of violence in favor of a riot.” According to a criminal complaint referred to by the FBI in the press release, in concert with the riots at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, Subleski incited a riot in Louisville, Ky, communicating through social media that he was the moment of storm LMPD “.
Subleski’s group is also accused of pointing guns at the driver of a vehicle, blocking intersections and barricading several roads. The complaint alleges that later in the evening the man was seen on video firing a gun at a vehicle crossing the group’s barricades. He then fled the scene.
Subleski is a member of a militia called the “United Pharaoh’s Guard” that aligns with Boogaloo Bois, according to the DOJ.
According to the DOJ, Turner, who is also identified as part of the UPG, confronted a police officer while traveling through St. Louis. Matthews, Ky, during a protest caravan on Dec. 25. The DOJ said that during the confrontation, Turner was carrying an “AR-pistol” and another pistol. He was eventually arrested for “threatening and resisting arrest.”
Turner posted several posts on social media after the arrest on Facebook and Twitter that continued to threaten police officers, according to the DOJ.
Both Subleski and Turner are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 17. They have up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $ 250,000.
