So you can get vaccinated with Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Costco

the Department of Health announced today, Friday, that Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Costco and CVS will begin vaccinating people aged 65 and over through their respective dating systems.

According to the designated Secretary of Health, Carlos Mellado López, Walgreens will start today with 10,700 vaccines, but the rest will start from next week.

No CVS representative was present at the conference.

Walgreens

The Walgreens pharmacy chain began administering the vaccine today, Friday, through an appointment system available on its portal.

seconds Eileen Ortega Rivera, Walgreen’s Director of Operations in Puerto Rico, has already received the first delivery of the 10,700 they will receive and be distributed across 103 pharmacies around the Island.

However, Ortega Rivera said, they have already given all the appointments available for the weekend and the goal is to use all the doses they can administer for Sunday.

“Today there are pharmacies that had already vaccinated all the patients who had an appointment that day, because we started calling patients to arrive earlier, but within the plan, every fifteen minutes we are administering a vaccine,” explained the company representative.

We recommend:

Costco

This megastore will not require a subscription to receive a dose of the vaccine. According to Mirna Ramírez, a graduate of Costco’s pharmacy in Los Filtres, a total of 2,000 vaccines have been administered to patients over 65 years of age.

An additional 2,000 doses are expected to arrive this week. Like Walgreens, the spaces are being separated through its portal, which you can access by clicking on the “Pharmacy” box.

“We are well organized by the hour. Each person leaves within 15 minutes of finishing their immunization,” Ramirez explained.

Wal-Mart

In the case of Wal-Mart, this mega-store received 4,000 doses that were already injected in late January, and now received an additional 4,000 doses. These will be managed in 25 stores across Puerto Rico, according to Iván Báez, director of Public and Government Affairs.

“People arrive, make their appointment at the pharmacy, based on available inventory or the pharmacist looks for 65+ patients who are part of the pharmacy prescription patient list,” Báez explained.

In this case, the official said, it will be administered on arrival, so the second dose must be ensured.
