The Argentine, Hernán Crespo, became this Friday the new coach of the Brazilian Sao Paulo for the next two years, as reported by the president of the entity, Julio Casares, in an appearance before the media.
“After a very technical, careful and sensible evaluation, in which we consulted different professionals, we understand that Hernán Crespo fits perfectly with what we think for Sao Paulo. He has a winning history, was a great player and is a very promising coach. We will have a commander with a winning mentality and São Paulo DNA“Casares said.
Crespo arrives in Morumbi after winning the South American Cup in 2020 with Defense and Justice. The unprecedented trophy was guaranteed with an undefeated campaign: six wins and three draws. The Argentine coach faces a new challenge in which he will lead two old acquaintances of the Spanish fans: Juanfran and Dani Alves.
Crespo’s career as a coach began in Italy in the lower categories of the Parma in the 2014/15 season and led the professional team of Modena in 2015. He then returned to Argentine football to take over Banfield in the 2018/19 and Defense and Justice. (2020/21).
Hernán Crespo was one of the great Argentine strikers and among his successes he has the Copa Libertadores de América (1996) and the UEFA Cup (1998-1999), In addition to cHenational competitions in Argentina, Italy and England. The Argentine competed in three World Cups and was Olympic silver in Atlanta 1996.
