One of the main reasons Texas chose to separate from Tom Herman was due to the drop in hiring. The 2021 group finished No. 17 in the country and second in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma.
Now that head coach Steve Sarkisian has taken over, the hiring has been revitalized instantly. The momentum began just a day after Sarkisian’s national championship victory over Alabama, when four-star receiver Armani Winfield announced his commitment on January 12th.
In his first month on the forty acres, Sarkisian has made a total of five commitments to the 2022 class and currently ranks the country’s No. 7 class according to 247Sports.
The technical body recently published the motto of the cycle as # 22EFFECT. Sarkisian is aware that this kind of recruitment will have a lasting effect on the base he is building with the Longhorns.
