No matter the indictment: President Biden spent time playing video games with his granddaughter over a weekend at Camp David, the presidential refuge in the Maryland mountains.
Naomi Biden, Hunter Biden’s daughter, posted Saturday in an Instagram story that her grandfather beat her “barely” in a “Mario Kart” game.
“The secret service made an exception and allowed him to drive himself,” he posted, linking to a small video of them playing video games. “A little rusty, but he still won (barely).”
The White House said Biden and his family are spending the weekend at Camp David for the first time since entering the White House in January.
Aside from meeting with his national security team, the president has nothing else on his schedule.
He arrived there on Friday afternoon by car after Air Force One landed in Hagerstown, Md.
Although the impeachment trial of his predecessor, President Donald Trump, continued Saturday, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Biden would observe “a little” of the trial, but said he would let the Senate decide the outcome .
Trump was acquitted in a 57-43 vote.
The Biden administration was also embroiled in a scandal on Saturday when another spokesman, TJ Ducklo, resigned for threatening a journalist who planned to write about his relationship with another journalist.
The heavily guarded mountain complex has allowed presidents dating back to Dwight Eisenhower to escape the glare of the spotlights.
