Parler announced Monday that it is officially relaunching its platform and will no longer have to rely on “great technology” to operate.
The announcement says the platform has been rebuilt with standalone technology, giving it the freedom to operate as they see fit after major app and web service stores withdrew from the platform in January following the Capitol riots.
“When Parler was disconnected in January by those who wanted to silence tens of millions of Americans, our team came together, determined to fulfill our promise to our highly committed community that we would become stronger than ever, ”said Mark Meckler , Acting CEO of Parler, said in the announcement.
Parler was suspended from Amazon’s web hosting services and Apple’s app store after the riot when it was found to be full of much discussion by members about the Capitol invasion.
Amazon and Apple gave Parler the opportunity to change its content moderation policy, as it had few rules of what could be posted on the platform. Instead of changing, Parler has moved to a place where they say they can restart without restrictions.
“Parler is led by an experienced team and has come to stay. We will thrive as the leading social media platform dedicated to freedom of expression, privacy and civil dialogue, ”said Meckler.
Current users of the platform will be able to access the site this week, while those who want to join will have to wait until next week, according to the announcement.
Parler continues to look for a permanent CEO after the board fired former CEO John Matze in a move that Matze said was not “involved.”
While Parler said his platform is open to all points of view, it has become known as a site for right-wing users who believe other major social media platforms have been censoring conservative content.
